Our Story
Carolina Best Fragrances is more than a fragrance company—it's a family legacy that began in 1962.
After serving in the U.S. Army, our father returned home looking for a way to support his growing family. While his military experience was as a mechanic, repairing jeeps and equipment, life led him in an unexpected direction when he accepted a position with a fragrance company. Starting on the production line, he filled bottles, inspected labels, packed orders, and learned every aspect of the business from the ground up.
Over the next twenty years, he gained invaluable knowledge and experience in the fragrance industry. In 1984, he made a bold decision to move his family of six to South Carolina in search of new opportunities. Determined to build something of his own, he opened a small business at Hudson's Market in Surfside Beach.
In those early days, he created and bottled fragrances by hand while selling a variety of other products to help establish the business. It didn't take long for fragrances to become the heart of the company. Customers appreciated the quality, affordability, and personal service, and the fragrance side of the business quickly became our foundation.
Then, in 1997, tragedy struck when the market where we operated was destroyed by fire. Years of hard work seemed lost overnight. Instead of giving up, our father looked at our family and said, “We’re going to come back bigger and better than ever.”
And that’s exactly what we did.
What began with just a handful of fragrances has grown into a collection of more than 400 scents. Through perseverance, long hours, and dedication to our customers, the business continued to thrive. In 2001, our father passed away, but the values he taught us continue to guide everything we do today.
More than four decades later, we remain committed to the vision he created. We often think about how proud he would be to see what the business has become and the loyal customers who have supported us throughout the years.
Today, the fragrance industry is growing faster than ever, and we work hard to stay ahead while maintaining the standards that built our reputation. We specialize in creating inspired fragrances as well as original scents, using high-quality fragrance oils and perfumer’s alcohol in our sprays. The same premium fragrance oils are used in our roll-on oils, lotions, and shower gels to ensure a consistent, long-lasting experience.
Our father’s philosophy was simple:
“Make it smell amazing, make it last, and make it affordable enough for everyday wear. If we do that, we’ll have customers for life.”
